Yes you can!

But you would be much better off using a laptop. Does you laptop have an hdmi, vga, or s-video socket?

Does your TV have any of those? (They are in order of quality).

The USB port on the Sumvision Phoenix is for photos only. You cannot play movies from a USB memory drive.

According to the reviews for this product, it does play video from USB but only certain formats and the drive has to be formatted to FAT32. I'm using and 8GB Sandisk Cruzer on mine. Problem is, it plays the files for about 10 minutes before freezing and coming up with the message USB not supported. Any suggestions?

Mine plays AVI files off the USB port no problem.

Usually.

I have a problem with some AVI files not being recognised. I just get "Incorrect file content" and it skips to the next file and tries to play it. This happens on discs and from the USB, and seems random. I've read elsewhere that this can happen with files near the end of the disc structure, but that doesn't sem to be the case with mine - it refuses to read some files in the middle, and plays ones at the end find.

I did try burning the files to a new disc with different overall content and some worked this time, but others still didn't.

The same files played just fine on my old Kazuki DVD player, from the same original discs.

Anyone got any ideas?

As for the bright orange display - nothing a small piece of car window tinting film won't sort out. :)

i think its the type of flash drives we are using
i tried a 8gb microsd card with adaptor & all the films played
i also checked the sumvision website & they have nothing about firmware updates for this product

just a note i bought one of these and everything was fine apart from the usb trying to play xvid(avi) files i have read a few people having the same problems, i tried playing a movie but got unsupported file format tried everything but got the same then had a brainstorm well cellstorm the film title was pretty long well was well long i decided to rename the file to a single word narnia, bobs ya auntie the xvid worked a treat so my guess the ultra long title threw the player into not playing or recognising the file just a little spanner in the works for anyone having the same problems try renaming the title to a single word, worked for me :D
