Shure Music iPhone Adaptor (MPA-3C) Question

Not sure if anyone knows the answer to this, but I'll ask anyway! :D

Is the Shure MPA-3C "compatible" with the Blackberry Curve and the Sony Ericsson range? As stated elsewhere on the site I use an SEc902 as my main music and radio player and have previously tried a Griffin phone adapter but it seemed to work in reverse (i.e. had to hold button to cut IN the music). Wondering if the MPA-3C uses the appropriate settings for these devices?

Have heard of build problems with the MPA-3C but this surprises me as anything "Shure" I've owned has been first x. Only things I've had a problem with is the 90cm extension leads, and the latest one has just gone too (although this wasn't a Shure as I bought it when on the move). Have to replace it and was thinking of giving the MPA-3C a go, but don't want to waste £30 to find it doesn't work with my devices.

You can find a compatibility list for this here: http://store.shure.com/store/shure/ContentTheme/pbPage.mpa_phone_compatability. Looks like the Blackberry Curve is indeed supported, but I doubt it's compatible with anything Sony Ericsson, as they have their own different headphone socket design.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I use an adapter to convert a 3.5mm plug into the Sony plug (is it called Fastport?). Just wondering if beyond that the operation will work the right way (i.e. click to mute instead of listen).

As expected the response from Shure was hopeless.

"It might work. We don't know, we haven't tried it. Be sure and buy from a shop that will allow you to take it back".

Honestly, you'd have thought 1 person working for Shure might have a Sony Ericsson phone to test it with. Not great customer service in my view...

Ah, that's not good. I thought they would have means to test it.

I'd at least let them know either way if you do find out the compatibility (even though you may feel disgruntled, it'll help other customers at least ;))

I am so thankful I found this posting, it has provided me with a wealth of information.
