SD Card in Cowon O2

I have just purchased an 16 gig O2 player and own an Iaudio D 16 gig using music on the SD card only.

Can the Cowon O2 play music from the SD card WITHOUT copying it to the main memory? With the smaller player it can JUST read from the SD card without copying, the O2 seems to want to copy the info across to main memory all the time is there a special setting to avoid this please?

What firmware version do you have on your O2? Our display O2 can access files seperately on an SD card running FW 1.24C

Thanks for replying I am running updated firmware latest for O2 of 1.33D?

It appears I can only copy files from the SD card to O2 memory then play them.
I was under the impression I could play files by accessing them on the SD card or on the O2 in house memory? This is possible on the Iaudio D as the card shows up on the computer as a n extension but not so on the O2?
However it appears the files on the SD card have to be invited in to the O2 before they can be played and that means less memory!


Interested in your comments incase I have missed something?

Hi James,

All that we do in the video menu for example is to select the SD icon, and the O2 then takes a few seconds to access the card data. Once loaded, a file can be played as normal without transferring any data to the internal storage. It's probably a firmware thing. I'll see if I can get the Tech Dept. to shed some light on this.
