Price beat - a joke.

Today, I wanted to buy a 16gb Sony NWZ-A829 ready for when they were in stock. However, I noticed on play.com that they were selling them for £189.99 delivered, but as with amp3, they were out of stock.

So, do I order from play.com and wait for their stock to arrive, or do I try to get amp3 to match the price and order from them.

I would have expected that as they are both out of stock that this would have been a simple - yes we can or no we won't as we would be at a loss, but the excuse i got was totally stupid!

The reason they won't price match is that both sites are out of stock! So amp3 have now lost a sale as I have ordered it from play.com for £20.00 cheaper.

I really can't believe that amp3 wouldn't try harder to get my custom. Poor!

AMP, thanks for your input on this subject and it's good to get some feedback from a supplier prepared to listen!

Play.com had problems with their delivery and in the end I returned to your website today to see that you were selling it at £189.99, so cheaper than play.com and even the cheapest seller on ebay. So you've ended up with my custom!

Hate to break it to you, but If it wasn't in stock, they feel like you couldn't order it anyways, so there is no price to beat.

Well, I tried PriceBeat for the new Sony NWZ-X1060 (New X1000 Series 32GB Walkman).
While Play.com has the item IN STOCK for 229.95 shipped, Advanced MP3 Players is selling the same item for 259.00.
I thought Advanced MP3 Players would be able to match the price, but NO best AMP's best offer is 245.
I don't see the point of PriceBeat if they cannot match the price.

We try to match prices when we can, but it all comes down to cost prices. We (obviously) can't sell products at a loss, and Play.com are either undercutting themselves or have more room for pricing with a better cost price.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but that's the reason why.
