I hope this is in the right place, I couldn't see anywhere else that's obvious to put it.
I'm not too technically minded, and while the product page for the Popcorn Hour looks impressive, I'm a little confused by some of the jargon like "It adds support for 2.5"/3.5" SATA HDD and USB Slave functionality " and "with a USB port moved to the rear panel, optical S/PDIF replacing the co-axial S/PDIF" for a couple of examples.
Is there any chance of someone giving me a simplified explanation of what this thing does, and how it's done? I have a nice theatre system at home, so it would be interesting to know about what sort of things I can add to it that may make my life a little easier.
On another note, what would be the main differences between the Popcorn Hour and the HDX 1000 Networked Media Tank? I'm a little bowled over by that page as well, so if you can keep the explanation as computer-illiterate as possible, I'd be very grateful! But I hope I'm right in thinking that these do similar things.
It's scary how quickly technology can overlap you. I used to be so in touch with it back in the day!
