sorry, I wasnt clear enough.
I am using a pc, but I am used to just drag and dropping mp3 files into my i-river. but when i plug both in via usb, i can see both players as drives, and can drop mp3's into ipod file. but cannot see or play them on ipod.
does this make sense?
i take it they need modifying, but how?
OK, firstly, copy the music you want from the iriver to the hard drive somewhere, and remember where you put it :P
Next, start up iTunes, and click File -> Import. When it asks you to select the folder to import, choose the one with all your music in. Itunes should then add all the mp3 files to its library.
Then, connect your daughters iPod. It should be detected by itunes (look at the list on the left in iTunes). Then, on that left hand side menu bar, drag the word "library" onto the iPod (which should be listed there).
I'm speaking here as an iRiver user, and not an iPod guru! So if this doesn't work, i'm sorry.
You will need to install the ipod plugin also from that site (it's all free)
As with itunes it's a case of telling the software where your tunes are stored on the PC
Also, If you are keen to keep using the 'Drag n' Drop' method of transferring your tunes to ipod then a company called 'Redchair software' produce a program called 'Anapod Explorer'
