Headphones with strong cable

Hi.

I go through a lot of headphones. I live quite an active lifestyle and am very rough on my headphones. I have had everything from really cheap 2 pound jobs, all the way up to some pretty decent 80quid Sony and Sennheisers. But I always have the same problem, within a year or so the cable breaks or frays, rendering them useless.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me a pair of headphones with decent sound quality, and preferable quite well sound insulating with a nice tough cable that I'm unlikely to break, or at least that will take a lot of punishment before they do.

Hi phuggo,

What I'd recommend is a set of headphones designed specifically for sports use. Generally these earphones are more durable and are designed to have a more secure fit, and most are also moisture resistant.

I'd suggest the Sennheiser sports range in particular. They sound fine, but they're obviously not audiophile earphones. I think they'd be ideal for what you're looking for though.

Good suggestion Elliot, and it's also worth noting that if the cable on the Super.Fi's breaks, you can get replacement cables without having to replace the whole earphone:

Thanks for all your help. I have gone for some Sennheiser PMX 80 Sport II headphones. Hopefully these will be rugged enough for me

that's actually a nice choice. why won't you also try bluetooth headphones? something like the cool Dr. Dre headphones. that way you don't have to worry about cables.
