E530's, IE8's or Triple Fi10's?

Postby thefletch »

Shure SE530's, Sennheiser's IE8's or Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10's?

What's the difference?

What are the most durable (I have found the Shure's liable to damaged cabling in the past, are they prone to these, are the Triple Fi10's the best bet, given their detachability rather than the whole headset being up the creek)

Have heard a lot of conflicting reports, such as the Shure's are overprice, the Sennheiser's are have the best technical specs (but does that relate to sound?) & that the triple fi10's are the best value and best sounding, but are a trouble to fit (In the past I've always gone Shure, but can now see they do not have the market to themselves as they once did)

Before forking out £200-£250 on a pair of earphones please tell me what's the bottom line?

I personally think the Triple.Fi 10's are the best of the 3 (Sennheisers a little lacking in clarity, Shures with not as good a x response as the UE's) but they are the most awkward of the 3 to get a proper fit. The Shures are probably the best fit, giving the best isolation.

Also, as you mentioned, the fact you can replace the cables on the UE's is a huge advantage.

I now have both first TrippleFi10 and now SE530PTH. The replacable cables in UE is actually not a huge advandage as its too tough that you can hardly need these replaced before the UEs fall apart itselfs. What I mean is that the constraction of UE is actually low end and maybe it will destroyed as mine (almost daily soft use for 2 years) and the one of them just seperated the upper side from the lower side o fthe headphone. Of course I did glue that with silicone but that situation gave me the opportunity to see the drives into the headphone hardware. Its actually 2 not 3 drives. When I put on the SE530 I discovered a hudge difference in fit sending TrippleFi to the box right away. Then came the audio quality that SE530 really sines on ... x - MID -TREBLE completely justyfied By hearin gthat with S9 I have no need to x boost as I always did with UETrippleFi10 and of course ABSOLUTELY NO DISTORTION AT ALL.... If you are thinking between the 2 do not even this UEs as the price drop of SE530 shows you the right way go for it.

And a word about Weston 3 If you are trying to get those headphones just keep in mind that its too treble and too plastic x comparing to SE530.

just a quick answer about the material quality of TripleFi10 after 2 years of use. UEs cable is very hard that merly will be stabilize the headphones to my ear. It fall apart in too pieces so had to glue the headphone. Asking them for repair was just noway communication end of warranty means end of life.Cables of Shure are better About the time that they will stand depents on the type of use.
